Biography

Sapphira Gold is a professional singer/songwriter, keyboardist and vocal/piano tutor living and working in London and the South East. Sapphira is involved in many different projects from writing and performing original material to tutoring piano and vocals privately and within schools, performing in various groups including a jazz-soul duo and function bands covering a wide variety of music.

Sapphira’s musical life began at a young age, learning to play piano and taking vocal tuition whilst at primary school and then throughout secondary and higher education, culminating in achieving grade 8 (ABRSM) in both singing and piano. Sapphira also took GSCE and A Level Music obtaining high grades in both. After finishing A Levels, Sapphira attended the University of Salford studying Popular Music and Recording for three years, where she majored in performance and composition and graduated in July 2006 with a 1st class honours degree.

Since returning to London in September 2006 Sapphira has been working professionally within the music industry. Sapphira has formed a soul-jazz duo with Liz Cole featuring characteristic sultry vocals from Sapphira complimented by close harmony and delicate piano from Liz. Sapphira also performs with function band, Visage, covering a wide repertoire of styles from soul/motown to country, from rock and roll to contemporary classics and from jazz to rock, who regularly perform at all kinds of private functions and clubs. Sapphira also regularly writes and performs original material, accompanying herself on the keyboard.

Sapphira also tutors piano and vocals one to one and in small groups. Sapphira currently tutors in a number of schools in and around Watford and Hertfordshire, for music teaching agency Life Music, in primary and secondary schools. Sapphira teaches privately too and has many pupils of all ages and abilities, many of which have studied or are currently studying for exams, in classical or pop/rock grades. Very recently Sapphira has also joined the performing arts school, Maggie May, based at the Epsom Playhouse, Epsom, Surrey. Here she runs singing classes for large groups of children and teenagers, focusing on the musical theatre genre.
